Artist Statement
My work plays with the tensions (literally and figuratively, *wink*) between material and forms of craft. I enjoy incorporating nylon paracord into my thrown and hand-built ceramic vessels not only because of its interesting design possibilities but due to its associations with survival craftwork. By using military-grade paracord and a combination of practical knots, macrame techniques, and basket weaving, I aim to poke a little fun at gendered classifications of craft and functionality.
