Artist Statement
Shara Ladyzhensky is a New York City based artist. She creates realist drawings in pencil and oil paintings. Fantasy is an important element of her pictures, which are largely rendered from imagination. Many of her portraits depict people whom she knows intimately, and the pictures explore her unique relationship to each subject. In addition to making artwork, Shara devotes herself to studying artistic anatomy, linear perspective, and art history. She lives in Brooklyn and maintains a daily studio practice in Greenpoint.
