Artist Statement

Enter a land of whimsical yet peculiar miniatures populated by colorful beetles and lost treasures. Seymour creates tiny worlds living under glass domes that imagine encounters between the natural and human worlds. Beautiful beetle specimens covet an itty bitty ouija board, roll a D20 die, or contemplate a misplaced toy. In other pieces, the roles are reversed and tiny, scale model people encounter enormous beetles of questionable hospitality. Visions of the apocalypse or the just world beneath our feet? It’s up to you to decide…
