Artist Statement

I am a Brooklyn-based fashion designer and illustrator, and a current MFA candidate in writing at Columbia University. My practice moves between garment, image, and text, guided by persistent experimentation with form. All my creative practices begin with structure. In my fashion work, my collections focus on creative construction. I design both men’s and women’s wear. Building on my strong influence from streetwear, which emphasizes function, I engage in spatial play and silhouette experimentation. My garments value both functionality and abstractions. My work aims to bring innovative spatial ideas into everyday clothing. This attention to how garments articulate and disrupt the body continues to inform my visual and illustrative work. In my illustrations, figures, gestures, and clothing operate as minimal but charged signs. I am interested in gesturally suggesting the psychological state of the figure depicted and in investigating how sentiments can be held within controlled strokes.
