Artist Statement

I am an oil painter living and working in Greenpoint. My work is saturated in color and feeling. I paint many different subjects, but the series I devote the most time to is a collection of paintings of injuries, focusing on people's capacity to survive the painful things they experience. I am interested in the galaxy of colors that are kept under our skin and how complex our bodies are beneath the surface. I have another series based on the MTV Unplugged Nirvana performance, investigating the cult of celebrity. Come by and see my paintings! Artist portraits by Tess Mayer.
