Artist Statement
My recent work has been focused on investigations of color harmonies, reduction of form to it’s essential elements, and producing fluid gestural compositions to capture an emotive subject. I use a chaotic technique of mixing traditionally incompatible materials brings visual tension to each painting as it is quickly created in an explosion of artistic activity using pencil, watercolor and inks in rapid succession. Other works that will be shown include landscape investigations in which two modes have become prevalent in my work: landscape miniatures of New York City views, and prints made of locally sourced soil.
