Artist Statement

Merging ceramic handbuilding with found materials, Norah Stone’s sculptures preserve remnants of quiet wreckage from our hyper-evolving, ecologically stunted world. Driven by an intrinsic desire to protect the precious and fleeting, she incorporates emotionally resonant debris such as insect carcasses, diseased sawdust, and eggshells into the cavities of her forms. Inspired by adaptation and reproduction, sharp, protective limbs often cradle soft, vulnerable abdomens—hinting at a protective motherly urge.
