Artist Statement
The relationship between nature and human development has been a constant throughout Nikki Lindt's work. The concept for her current series ‘Tumbling Forests of the North’ crystallized during her travels and onsite study of the dramatic effects of permafrost thaw within the Alaskan landscape. She worked with scientists in Fairbanks, Alaska in the spring of 2018 to gain a deeper understanding of permafrost thaw. This summer Nikki will be a returning to Alaska as a resident at a Field Station in the Arctic Circle to continue working on this series.
