Artist Statement

My paintings and drawings combine figuration, landscape, and abstraction to depict semi-fictional environments that re-contextualize personal and inherited experience. By editing, conjoining, and layering fragments of memory with invented imagery, I construct narratives that function as a repository for personal and family histories. These works are painted on unstretched, often shaped canvases whose whimsical, flexible forms echo both the environments depicted and the ephemeral nature of memory itself. Drawing from iconography, ritual, symbolism, architecture, and decorative elements, I aim to preserve what is fleeting — a landscape I once inhabited, a person I loved — while anchoring these narratives in a visual language viewers can use to reflect on their own ways of seeing, remembering, and archiving.
