Artist Statement

I began this collage series as a worker who has never been the boss. The viewer is left with a series of flashy collages filled with witty forms displaying both gluttonous and isolating behavior as coping mechanisms nostalgic of the working class. A shattering of a false narrative of the American dream is shown through contradictions of miserable forms partying in middle America decadence. While more serious pieces conjure a frigid reality of hierarchy within working class professions and finding unity in sacrifices that come with the job. This series is pieced together with vintage books that subjects range from mixing cocktails, mushroom foraging, wax figure sculptures to cake decorating and everything in between.
