Artist Statement
Each painting in the VOID series is composed of rectangles proportioned according to aspect ratios commonly associated with digital interfaces, including 16:9, 16:10, and 4:3. These forms function as “windows” of information, inviting viewers to create personal associations through subtle shifts in color, tone, and spatial relationships. The paintings are made using accessible materials and tools: masking tape, stencils, brushes, foam rollers and silk screens, on surfaces such as burlap, panel, and paper. By establishing provisional boundaries, I aim to disrupt the flow of information across the painted surface while simultaneously allowing pigment to move unpredictably, softening and blurring those same divisions. In this way, the work presents both an objective and subjective experience. The paintings ask viewers to consider the tension between what is real and what is perceived, drawing attention to the fluid nature of boundaries, within the artwork itself and within the ways we navigate both digital and physical worlds.
