Artist Statement

There is a constant swirl of potential and decay within and around human beings and my art strives to capture visual documentation of this. I create large scale, figurative drawings with graphite pencil and oil paint on paper. I am interested in simultaneously depicting physical and metaphorical aspects of the figure within the same space. The work tends to embrace motion, multiplicity and warped anatomy. I try to let the crosshatching be fast and loose and let the line work flow free. Color is a vehicle to accentuate the line and therefore consider these pieces to be drawings instead of paintings when it's all said and done.
