Artist Statement
Mary Younkin (b. 1982, California) lives and works in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn. She studied painting at California College of the Arts and received her MFA at Parsons The New School. Her vibrant paintings have been exhibited widely in the New York area, most recently with Yashar Gallery, and Pen & Brush Gallery for the Everywoman Biennial. Younkin was also included in Thunderdomisticity: Witness Me, a public art installation in South Dakota in 2025. Her work resides in the permanent collection of the Ramsey County Historical Society in Minnesota as part of their exhibit “Persistence: Continuing the Struggle for Suffrage and Equality: 1848-2020”. She has been published in 101 Art Book: Floral Edition by the Art to Hearts Project and I Like Your Work Volume 10: Esprit de l’escalier, curated by Alicia Puig. In addition to her studio work, Younkin is a process-based arts educator and part of the team behind Greenpoint Open Studios.
