Artist Statement
I am a Chilean-French visual artist whose practice is shaped by experiences of isolation and social distance during my childhood in Chile under the military dictatorship. Growing up as the only girl among six siblings, my work emerges from the intersection of solitude and collective awareness, addressing structures of patriarchy, cultural identity, gender roles, and vulnerability. My artistic process is driven by an insatiable search for information and grounded in lived experience. Working across multiple media, I investigate perceptual phenomena and the construction of fear, examining how systemic mechanisms shape individual and collective consciousness. I approach experience itself as a means to activate awareness and critical reflection. My interdisciplinary practice brings together traditional and contemporary techniques, including photography, video, performance, sculpture, printmaking, and interactive media. Through the dislocation and transformation of materials and forms, I question the limits of visual and emotional perception, seeking to transcend individual experience while heightening awareness of broader social and environmental contexts. My projects often engage with landscapes, systems, and events that reveal tensions between human connectivity and solitude, knowledge and uncertainty, control and vulnerability. By working through abstraction and sensory immersion, I aim to draw attention to the conditions that shape perception and collective responsibility.
