Artist Statement
Milky sea glass, fraying yellow rope, an orange flip flop, a broken pink beret; wandering along a river one finds all kinds of forgotten objects that have bobbed their way to the shoreline, as if searching for purpose later in life beyond their original intended use. My practice uses found and discarded materials to make sculptures that are ambiguous in their make-up and meaning, yet evoke familiarity through bright colors and basic communicative forms like the arch and the circle. Using processes inspired by erosion, I am to render recognizable things unrecognizable.
