Artist Statement
My practice explores the conscious and unconscious ways, in which everyday images and objects resonate with us. The most recent body of work features an ink on paper series, titled Archetypes. In this series, I use a collection of cardboard packaging from my daily life as a tool to produce a painting. The groundwork for a painting is laid out by using flattened packaging as a stencil to trace its inherent folded form. The transcription of painted marks that follow is unfiltered, as I let any sensation or memory to permeate into the work. Many influences unconsciously enter into the paintings, whether it be architectural elements l encounter on the street or images from my newsfeed of outer space exploration.
