Kathryn Elaine is a tattoo artist in Brooklyn who specializes in magical realism with ornamental and floral elements. Kathryn moved to New York City in 2016 to study painting and drawing Parsons/The New School. As a former gymnast and lover of glitz, she was drawn to tattooing for its attention to anatomy, quality of adornment, and the intimacy in the application. As a female artist in a male-dominated industry, she prioritizes comfort in vulnerable spaces. She specializes in anatomically informed tattooing and wants her tattoos to fit the body like a tailor fits clothes. Her art is inspired by the geometric and organic melding of art nouveau and the metropolitan motifs of art deco. She has a BFA in Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design and apprenticed for four years under Anil Gupta at Inkline Studios.
