Artist Statement
Jordan Nicole Shoe is a New York-based artist, painter, interior designer, photographer, and creative director whose work explores atmosphere, energy, and the spiritual dimension of light within the natural and built world. Working across painting, photography, spatial composition, and energy work, her practice is centered on moments of emotional and spiritual resonance — where environments take on an almost dreamlike presence. Rooted in intuition and an understanding of God expressing through nature, her work approaches beauty as both a visual and energetic experience. Drawing from romanticism, cinematic framing, environmental painting, and sacred symbolism, she creates immersive compositions intended not only to be viewed, but felt — spaces that invite reflection, stillness, clarity, and emotional transformation. Originally from North Carolina, she was raised around craftsmanship and design through her parents’ work in high-end furniture creation and interiors — an early influence that continues to shape her sensitivity to atmosphere, materiality, and spatial experience. Alongside her fine art practice, Shoe has consulted across communications, styling, creative direction, and brand development for some of the world’s leading luxury houses and cultural brands, including J. Mendel, Erdem, Yigal Azrouël, Celine, and A. Lange & Söhne, among others. Influenced equally by New York’s urban landscape and the restorative intelligence of the natural world, her work examines the relationship between light, memory, atmosphere, and consciousness, balancing softness with structure and refinement with intuition. Her first and latest film as a stylist is debuting at the Tribeca Festival in June, with tickets currently available. For Greenpoint Open Studios, Shoe invites visitors into her Greenpoint home and studio for an intimate preview of selected works, offering a closer look into her evolving practice, process, and living environment where painting, interiors, atmosphere, and spiritual inquiry converge.
