Artist Statement

Working in multiple mediums such as painting, sculpture, and murals, I depict faceless, amorphous figures in various states and environments as a way of reflecting on human nature and identity. The surreal qualities of my work are rooted in the limbo state I often find myself in, especially as someone who was brought up between Taiwanese, Chinese, and American cultures. Raised in a family with Buddhist values, I’m drawn to the interconnectedness of all beings, a concept that inspires my exploration of shared humanity. My background in graphic design informs my focus on form, color, and composition, distilling symbols to their very core to evoke universal emotions.
