Artist Statement

Jessica Krause Smith is a multi-disciplinary artist whose visual language is rooted in abstraction and shaped by intuition, memory, reaction, and materiality. In her work she explores the interplay between chance and intention, responding to internal energy, surroundings, reflections, discoveries, and visual stimuli—pulling from her subconscious in an ever-shifting relationship. Jessica’s painting process is physical and expressive, combining acrylics with house paint, spray paint, oil sticks, dried fragments and found materials. Her work invites interpretation, sensory engagement and is a contemplative outlet —embodying human energy, visual poetry, and emotional depth—born from both her personal experience and our shared human condition.
