Artist Statement

Life should be about color, not reality. J. Eric Cook works primarily in watercolor on canvas and linocut relief prints, which he hand-carves & presses on his hand made platen press. The works are expressive and intimate, whether portraits or urban landscapes. Eric takes the Ad Tumulum Arts Road Show to Washington Square Park every weekend (weather permitting), live painting or carving linoleum, often inviting visitors to collaborate and create. J. Eric Cook lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and is widely recognized to be the eighth hardest working living artist in NYC.
