Artist Statement

Ivonne Tejada Cruel is a Dominican artist and educator (based in New York) whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting and ceramics, rooted in a deep fascination with nature, identity, and the human experience. Drawing from her design background and personal narrative, she creates works that move fluidly between fine art and functional, botanical paintings built from bold color and gestural lines, and sculptural vessels that transform everyday objects into moments of wonder. At the heart of her practice is a celebration of individuality: in the natural world, in the act of making, and in the people who ultimately live with her work.
