Artist Statement
As a designer focused on sustainable fashion, I explore the intersection of material innovation and ecological regeneration through mycelium. My work involves creating hand-made garments from deadstock materials, which I then decompose using mycelium to form wearable clothes and art. This process challenges conventional fashion practices, aiming to reduce waste and promote circularity. After receiving my Masters in Textile Design from the Royal College of Art London, I returned to New York City with a commitment to address the fashion industry’s environmental impact. Mycelium, with its regenerative properties, offers a transformative solution for creating sustainable, future-facing fashion. My work has been featured in Dezeen Magazine, National Geographic, and Tides Magazine, and I have exhibited in London, Berlin and New York City. Through my designs, I aim to showcase how we can rethink the life cycle of fashion, moving away from disposability and embracing a more regenerative, eco-conscious approach!
