Artist Statement

Nostalgia is neither cute nor trivial. It was once a medical diagnosis ascribed to soldiers whose longing to return home caused physical distress. Nostos: return home. Algos: pain. Each portrait I make is a walk taken with my subject toward a place we both hope to return: home.
