Artist Statement
My paintings fall into two ongoing bodies of work: a series of aggressive ethereal landscapes that investigates current climate change in America and florals that question sexual feminine energy versus dominant masculinity through evocative brush strokes which utilize violent colors. While both projects share similar aesthetics they are explored on two very different scales to build different climactic reactions in my work. By using oil paint with instinctual gestural mark making and the control of spray painting it allows me to convey the unpredictability of nature itself.
