Artist Statement

Elise Rise’s paintings explore the symbolic overlap between feminine and botanical forms—trees that curve like feminine torsos, yonic fruiting bodies, the glittery femininity of the spider web. Her work is grounded in a visual language of softness, seduction, and strangeness. There’s an intentional ambiguity in the forms she paints: erotic, sacred, dangerous—or all three at once.
