Artist Statement
Boxart After Hours: Employee Art Exhibition brings together a community of artists who work behind the scenes in fine art services—building crates, packing and transporting artworks, and installing exhibitions across New York City and beyond. Featured artists- Kyle Ford, Francisco Aliotta By day, these individuals are entrusted with the care and movement of cultural objects. They handle artworks with precision, respect, and deep material understanding. By night, they return to their own studios, where they create. This exhibition shifts the lens—foregrounding the creative practices of those typically positioned in the background. Featuring up to 30 artists working across painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, and video, the show reflects a wide range of voices, aesthetics, and approaches. While diverse in form, the works are united by a shared intimacy with materials, process, and the physical realities of art-making. The exhibition highlights a unique duality: artists who both support the circulation of contemporary art and actively contribute to it. Their labor sustains the art world; their practices expand it.
