Artist Statement
I am a textile artist whose work focuses on exploring relationships between objects, time and memory. Recently this concept has emerged in the form of fabric constructions that depict cityscapes and iconic urban structures. Other series reference retro items, reminders of joyful moments and places from our youth. Techniques employed are critical to the look and feel of each piece. Quilting and embroidery give the work texture and dimensionality. The irregularity of hand stitching reveals the significance of human touch, and references the roots of these traditional art forms.
