Artist Statement

I make small batch ceramics, both hand built and wheel thrown, with a focus on constructing functional forms, inspired by the environment or context in which they are used. A large part of my work is devoted to restaurant production, where I work with chefs, crafting tableware that is in conversation with the food they are serving, puzzling out the best functional display to reflect it. I find a lot of pleasure in repetition as a deliberate practice, where excellence isn’t a gift, but a skill that takes practice.
