I make small batch ceramics, hand built and thrown on the wheel. I focus on constructing functional forms, inspired by the environment or context in which they are used. Living in Brooklyn has afforded me the opportunity to work with incredibly talented chefs and restaurateurs. I enjoy the process of absorbing their vision, and then puzzling out the best functional display to reflect it. I also find a lot of pleasure in repetition as a deliberate practice, I’m going to lean on Plato for this one. “Excellence" is not a gift, but a skill that takes practice.” Sure, he was talking about virtue, but I find strength in that idea when I’m staring down the barrel of a large order.
