Artist Statement

Allison Maletz is a mixed media artist. She received her BFA in 2003 from the Rhode Island School of Design and her MFA from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, 2009. She began as a documentary style photographer, traveling the world making images about being normal, yet misplaced. In 2007 she started making sound installations and large-scale watercolor paintings from photographs that further developed the concepts in her previous work. She is currently living and working in Brooklyn, and has exhibited at the Liverpool Biennial, New Contemporaries UK, Zoo Art Italy, The Royal Watercolor Society in London, the Moscow Biennale at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the National Arts Club, Calico, Denny Gallery, Fresh Window, Trestle Gallery, NURTUREart, and the Florence Griswold Museum. Her first New York solo show "Together" was presented at the Christopher Henry Gallery in 2013.
