Artist Statement

Bernard James is a Brooklyn-based fine jewelry studio focused on creating pieces that carry personal meaning and longevity. Each design begins with a balance between form and feeling – using solid gold and natural diamonds to create objects that are meant to be worn daily and kept for a lifetime. Many pieces explore themes of transformation, pressure, and growth, reflecting the idea that identity is something continuously shaped over time. The Greenpoint studio functions as an open, collaborative space where clients become part of the process – from engagement rings to custom commissions and evolving collections. The goal is not just to make jewelry, but to create something people return to, build with, and pass on.
