Artist Statement
As a Brooklyn-based visual artist, I create mixed media works that blend traditional painting with digital video to explore the psychological terrain of memory, attachment, and transformation. My practice involves layering acrylic paintings on transparent panels with subtle video elements, crafting immersive pieces that exist between stillness and motion. In my series "Attachment Theory," I delve into how early relationships shape our connections throughout life. Solitary figures navigate spaces that shift between stability and uncertainty, mirroring the psychological patterns of human bonding. The interplay between painted surfaces and moving images reveals how our earliest attachments echo through our connections to places, memories, and each other. "Liminal Dreams" captures the threshold between consciousness and dreaming, where reality dissolves into something more fluid and uncertain. Through a combination of traditional painting and video projection, these works depict moments of transition—figures suspended in water, birds in mid-flight, solitary observers at the edge of vast spaces—inviting viewers into a meditative space that blurs the line between physical and psychological landscapes. In "The Imperfect Journey," I examine the tension between America's founding ideals and its lived realities. This series interrogates the constitutional aspiration toward "a more perfect union" by confronting the contradictions that both challenge and define the American experiment. My work is rooted in the belief that art can serve as a bridge between the tangible and the intangible, offering a space for reflection and connection. By integrating painting and video, I aim to create pieces that resonate on both visual and emotional levels, inviting viewers to contemplate their own experiences of attachment, transition, and identity.
