Artist Statement
This work explores the afterlives of forgotten stories. What might happen if a torn journal page were buried in Central Park, left to tumble through the wind in an industrial part of Brooklyn, or tied to a concrete block …and sent to the bottom of the East River. Would the pages crystalize? Would they rot? Could some sprout patches of wildflowers? For Open Studios, I’m showing a collection that follows this line, with pieces that slip between story and object. Some pages fade into pure texture; others hold together, fighting to retain their private message. – Dave
