Artist Statement
John P. Dessereau, aka Johnsville, is an award-winning, New York-born and bred artist and creative. Focusing on illustration, fine art, and DJing, His work is widely inspired by many forms, from comic books and street art to surrealism and impressionism. His practice consists of both traditional and digital methods. John is passionate about visual storytelling as a vessel and less of an ego. The goal of his work is to capture the feeling, vibe, and energy of his subjects. Notably, John's is recognized by The Society of Illustrators, 3×3 Magazine, Creative Quarterly, Communication Arts, World Illustration and is art is included in the permanent collections of Spike Lee, The Queens Library in New York and the Hennessy Archive. He’s created artworks for many publications and brands like The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, No Kid Hungry, AARP, The New York Times, Hennessy, and Bleacher Report. John has a BFA in illustration from The School of Visual Arts and a MFA in illustration The Fashion Institute of Technology.
