Artist Statement

Claire McConaughy is a Brooklyn-based painter. Her expressively painted oil paintings are reactions to the process of painting, the history of landscape and a deep connection to nature. McConaughy has exhibited in New York City galleries and nationally including Nick Ryan Gallery, The Drawing Center, 490 Atlantic, The Painting Center, Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art, Zürcher Gallery, Garvey-Simon West, and others. She is the recipient of a MacDowell Fellowship, Millay Arts Residency, Ucross Foundation Residency and Santa Fe Art Institute Artist’s Residency. Her work has been reviewed in Art Spiel, artcritical, White Hot Magazine, Hamptons Art Hub and other publications.
