Artist Statement
Nicole Lane Fulmer is a knitwear, costume and set designer based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and moved to New York to pursue a degree in Fine Art from Pratt Institute. After a career anchored in commercial photography, directing art galleries then segueing into the commercial fashion industry, she continued her education in Brighton, England under the tutelage of Knit-1 Studio. She now owns and operates Analogue Knitting, offering knitwear sampling, small production, and consulting; as well as creating clothing for performance pieces, editorial, film and television costume, and runway presentations. Her clientele includes designers and collaborators from New York, Paris, Bahrain, and London. Her work has been featured in Women’s Wear Daily, Vogue, and the Business of Fashion, among others. She is interested in the idea of clothing as wearable art and the ultimate form of self-expression in an age of conformity and trend-based sameness.
