Artist Statement
Matthew Ortega is an artist, designer and musician working at the intersection of art and technology. His current practice revolves around the poetic use of technology, and he looks for ways to connect digital form with physical media such as collage, painting, and drawing. Using programming as his primary tool, he now explores the topics of refuse, decay, and distortion through custom-built software. By building generative systems with individual designed elements, he focuses on systematic design over that of any singular image.
