Artist Statement

My interest is always the space we move through. My paintings are often abstract distillations of my journeys— sometimes layering and colliding impressions, sometimes pulling in close on a single detail. In these I explore my visual experience rather than a specific story. My work is intuitive and develops over time, drawing on memory, sketches made on the spot, and photographs. Each mark, perfect or imperfect, responds to the one before it and sets up the one to come, thus contributing to the final composition.
