Artist Statement

My paintings explore figures and landscapes shaped by the natural world and the quiet, sometimes chaotic path to emotional clarity. Nature is both mirror and muse—its forms, rhythms, and changing light intertwine with my own journey as I translate them through paint. Each piece is a meditation in motion. Layers of flowing color, abstract marks, and symbolism emerge from self‑reflection, becoming portraits of atmosphere as much as subject. As a sensitive observer, I attune to the energy of a space and carry it to the canvas, letting tone, value, and gesture hold what words can’t. Orchids, begonias, and the figures and gardens that recur in my work become sanctuaries—referencing not only the external world, but the inner places I return to for peace. There’s an aliveness in the act of painting—a surprise that unfolds as emotion meets color and light, like the instant a room shifts or a garden exhales into bloom.
