Artist Statement

With rich oil paint, Kaylie experiments with purposeful blurring techniques leading to an aura or dream-like effect mixing with reality. Through often contrasting and bold palettes, her oil paintings evoke yearning, memory, and romanticism of modern day. Kaylie lost her right eye to cancer at two years old and as a result color, contrast, light, and shadow is how she experiences the world with less depth perception. Her vibrant palettes are often heightened and saturated versions of her perspective.
