Artist Statement

PIGEON POETIC The latest collaboration piece of SENTIENT’s Sapience Chair, conceptualized by Alireza Yavari, introduces an unexpected embroidery pattern inspired by the spontaneous markings often found in urban landscapes. This unique design element, enhanced with gold leaf and pearls, boldly critiques the luxury market’s tendency towards pretension, cleverly questioning the authenticity and exclusivity of mass-produced luxury items. By integrating urban elements into sophisticated design, this art installation encourages a reconsideration of what constitutes true luxury. This chair does not conform to convention. Instead, it stands as a bold statement against the bland uniformity that often characterizes high-end design, promoting a more genuine and thoughtful approach to what is considered luxurious and desirable in contemporary interiors. The application of gold leaf and pearls was completed in collaboration with Le Studio Anthost, adding yet another layer of creative expertise to this evocative project. Together, SENTIENT and Le Studio Anthost have crafted a design that challenges and delights—a true celebration of artistry, craftsmanship, and unconventional luxury.
